Lokesh Kanagaraj's all time record breaking blockbuster hit 'Vikram' starred Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles with Anirudh scoring the music. Apart from the superstars who played the lead roles there were several other actors who found fame through the film.

VJ Maheshwari played the role of the villain Vijay Sethupathi's first of three wives and though she had very little screen time she is thankful for the opportunity. She found fame through the 2007 comedy reality show 'Asatha Povathu Yaaru' which she hosted on Sun TV. She later did several other shows but faded from the limelight after her marriage to Chankya.

Maheshwari after a few years of marriage filed for divorce and also got custody of her son after a long legal battle. In an exclusive interview with Aval Glitz, the 37 year old has revealed that her husband and in laws mentally and physically abused her. She also adds that they prevented her from taking up acting assignments and forced her to confine herself to anchoring citing that the family name is at stake.

After several years of abuse, Maheshwari decided that divorce was the best option and took legal action. She now says that she is peaceful and is concentrating on bringing up her son. Regarding criticisms on her glamorous dressing and photoshoots shared on social media, she says that she likes wearing them and wants to show society that she has the freedom to live life her way.
