Versatile star Vikram has been conferred honorary doctorate by a University in Italy for his excellence in acting. Universita Popolare Degli Studi Di Milano (UUPN) which is popularly known as People's University in Milan has conferred the doctorate of fine arts in acting to Chiyan Vikram.

Vikram is supposedly the first ever Indian actor to have recieved the doctorate from a European university for their contribution to cinema. The star recieved the doctorate in the presence of delegates from China and West Africa in a ceremony on Sunday.

Vikram addressed the gathering and received the honour. Prof Dr Marco Grapecia who is the President of the university, members of the planning commission of China and special invitees were present at the ceremony.

The star will be back in India in the first week of June.He is currently busy promoting his film Deiva Thirumagan which is releasing in Telugu as 'Nanna'. It stars Anushka Shetty in the lead role.
