Vikram’s ‘Mahaan’ Opts for Direct OTT Release - official release date announced

Vikram's 60th film Mahaan directed by Karthik Subbaraj with Dhruv Vikram in prominent roles will skip theatrical release and premiere on Amazon Prime Video directly. The official announcement came from the streaming giant today and fans can't hold their excitement.

The film also marks the first time collaboration of Vikram with his son Dhruv. Mahaan is backed by producer Lalit Kumar under the 7 Screen Studio banner. Apart from the father-son duo, Mahaan’s cast also includes actors Simran and Bobby Simha in important roles. While Simha is a frequent collaborator of Subbaraj’s, Simran has previously appeared in the filmmaker’s 2019 film Petta.

The film was wrapped in august 2021 and the first look poster was well received by the audience. After completing the dubbing in January, Subbaraj tweeted, “Our film Mahaan is all ready and delivered. Will be released very soon. Can’t wait to show the film to you all. Release updates and promotions on the way soon!” The film will be available for the audience from February 10 on Amazon Prime.

On the other hand, Vikram also has Ponniyin Selvan waiting for the release. Vikram is playing the role of Aditya Karikalan in the period drama. Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan is based on the Tamil literary novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.
