Vijay, for the past many years, has been distributing note books, stationery, study materials and financial aid to deserving students. But from this year onwards, he has decided to honor toppers of 10th and 12th standard examinations.

Vijay Makkal Iyakkam immediately implemented his decision, by organizing a function in Chennai, during which toppers were honored by the Ilayathalapathy.

"Vijay dreams for achieving 100 per cent literacy in the country. Hence he has been involved in several charitable activities towards education. This is as part of his continuing efforts," said an office-bearer of Makkal Iyakkam.

Another office-bearer said, "Vijay strongly believes that education is an important tool for a country's progress. He hopes to motivate students to study well and be instrumental in the nation's growth."
