Director Ramana had made his debut with the Vijay starrer Thirumalai in 2003. Released during Diwali festival alongside Thala Ajith's Anjanaya, Bala's Pithamagan starring Suriya and Vikram and Arjun's Ottran, Thirumalai became the festive winner and was a comeback for Vijay after a number of failures.
The director made Aadhi again with Vijay and Trisha, and Sullan starring Dhanush, but both the movies could not achieve commercial success as expected. After these two movies, the director also took up to acting before he was diagnosed of cancer. Now the director is back healthy, and is ready with scripts.
In a recent interview, when Ramana was questioned if he will direct Vijay and Ajith, he has revealed that he has a script like Thalapathy, that will have equal importance with mass sequences for both Vijay and Ajith, and has titled the script as Dhuruvangal. Besides he also revealed he has separate scripts for Vijay and Ajith.
