Vijayawada, Vizag beat Hyderabad in cleanest cities list

The results of Swachh Survekshan-2020 are out. The world’s largest urban cleanliness survey has thrown up some interesting results.
Andhra Pradesh has got two cities in the Top 10 list. Vijayawada and Greater Visakhapatnam are at No. 4 and No. 9 among India's cleanest cities, respectively. (Note: This is among cities with a million-plus population). In contrast, Hyderabad is at No. 23.
Indore has been ranked at No. 1 and this is the fourth time in a row that the Madhya Pradesh city has occupied the top slot.
In the list consisting of cities with a population of 1 to 10 lakh, Tirupati has got sixth rank.
Presenting the results, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, "Every year we have seen the survey grow. From 73 cities in 2016 to 4,242 cities, 62 Cantt boards & 92 Ganga towns, Swachh Survekshan 2020 comprehensively covers our urban space with 1.87 cr citizens participating this year."
The survey team visited over 58,000 residential and over 20,000 commercial areas covering over 64,000 wards over a period of 28 days.
