A tragic incident has claimed two lives in Vijayawada. Shaik Karima (35) reportedly committed suicide on Tuesday by consuming cyanide after a heated quarrel with her husband, Shaik Shamsuddin. Moments later, pained by the suicide of his mother, her 16-year-old son, too, consumed cyanide, killing himself.

The heated exchange between the husband-wife duo reportedly happened over the wife's "addiction" to TikTok of late. Since Karima's liking for TikTok irked her husband, he scolded her. Disappointed, Karima killed herself.

As per a Times Of India report, the family has been facing severe financial hardships due to the lockdown. Shamsuddin recently lost his job as a gold polisher. This came on the top of the husband-wife duo meeting with a road accident and suffering grievous injuries months ago. Their medical treatment deprived them of Rs 5 lakh. Before that, their daughter's marriage had resulted in debts.

Police inquiry into the incident says that Shamsuddin had bought cyanide to polish gold.
