Legendary actor turned politician Vijayakanth married Premalatha in 1990 and has two sons Vijayaprabhakaran and Shanmughapandian. The younger one Shanmughapandian has followed in the footsteps of his father in the cinema field and has acted in ‘Sagaptham’.
Vijayaprabhakaran is now one of the leaders of the DMDK party alongwith his mother Premalatha Vijayakanth and uncle L.K. Sudeesh. In December 2019 Vijayaprabhakaran got engaged to Keerthana the daughter of Coimbatore based businessman Elangovan. It was a private affair with only close family in attendance.
However even after three years the couple have not got married yet. It is reported that partly the delay was caused by the two and a half years of coronavirus pandemic. It is also said that Vijayakanth wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to officiate the wedding and is waiting for his dates. Other reports suggest that the wedding will happen within this year. However there is no official word from the Captain family in this regard yet.
It is worth mentioning that Vijayakanth is battling long time illness and is mostly confined to his home. He however follows the happenings in the political arena and expresses his strong views on social media platforms.
