In the eighties and nineties though Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan were like today the rulers of Tamil Cinema, four other stars Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu and Karthik were equally celebrated box office kings and their charisma is intact even today.

The four contemporary actors who are now in their sixties are acting as heroes now. Sathyaraj known as Puratchi Tamizhan in his heyday plays the lead role in Oru Naal Iravil` which has just been released while Navarasa Nayagan Karthik is the hero of a dark gangster film Jindhaa` which is under production. The past week announcements came that Captain Vijayakanth is returning as the hero in Tamizhan Endru Sol` in which he will be sharing screen space with his son Shanmughapandian. Similarly Illayathilagam Prabhu will also play the lead role in a new movie Meen Kulambum Mann Paanaiyum` costarring Kalidas Jayaram and Ashna Zhaveri and produced by Sivaji Ganesan`s eldest grandson Dushyanth. Let us put our hands together to welcome back these evergreen stars.
