Veteran actor and DMDK leader Vijayakanth has raised an interesting question against the animal rights organisation, PETA.

Jan 28's news made big as two cargo ships collided near the Kamarajar Port, Chennai causing to a major oil spill into the ocean. Unfortunately for the aquatic life surrounding the coastline, the nearly 90 ton oil spill took the lives of a lot of turtles and fishes whose bodies were washed ashore.

Citing lack of technology here in India to handle such disastrous situations , the former leader of the opposition in Tamil Nadu State Assembly, urged the Central and State governments to take necessary measures to bring in enough facilities to prevent these happenings or at least recuperate faster when such incidents occur.. He also pointed out that nonavailability of technology leads to human beings getting involved of such highly risky activities like removing the toxic spill in the ocean and manual scavenging by getting inside manholes.

The 'Captain' also questioned PETA's differential attitude in dealing with animal welfare. He asked why the Animal Rights NGO did not raise any voice for the safety of marine lives while they took such enormous steps to ban Jallikattu, the bull-taming sport, that is considered tradition.
