Quite unlike Rajnikanth, Vijayakanth has never hid his political ambitions.

All he has been saying these days is that he will decide on getting into politics at an appropriate time.

It now seems that the appropriate time has arrived.

The Captain, who was recently elected as president of Nadigar Sangam, is on a whirlwind tour around important cities of Tamil Nadu and has been addressing public meetings.

His recent public meeting was at Thiruvannamalai where thousands of his fans attended.

Speaking there, Vijayakanth made his intentions clear. He made a frontal attack on politicians and the political system as exists now.

"Even after 55-odd years after attaining Independence, the country is still hobbling," he said, and added "this is because of corrupt and selfish politicians".

He urged people to be cautious and cast their votes with diligence and discernment.

Meanwhile, Vijayakanth has convened a huge conference at Tiruchy on 14 April in which he might announce the formation of his new party.

So stay tuned for the D-Day.
