I am acting in films to run my political party. What's wrong with it? Questions actor-cum-politician Vijayakanth.
Speaking to reporters before his departure to shoot for his forthcoming flick 'Engal Aasaan' abroad, Vijayakanth said, 'I have known producer S V Thangaraj for a long time. We have been planning to do a film for a long time now and finally we are realizing it with 'Engal Aasaan'.
'I play a bank manager who creates awareness among the masses about co-operative banks. The character I play wages a battle with wrongdoers who happen to be influential men who take it upon themselves to swindle money from banks', he added.
Directed by debutant Kalaimani, the movie features Sheryll Brindo, Vikranth, Suja, Akshaya among others in the cast. Sabesh Murali has scored the music.
'We are planning to shoot some songs abroad. What started as a small budget movie has become a huge film today', the actor adds.
Sheryl Brindo and Vikranth also spoke on the occasion. Vikranth said, it was a great experience being part of a Vijayakanth film. He is very co-operative and guided me to get my act right. But for his encouragement I would not have given my best'.
