Vijay Shankar won't be a part of the ongoing ICC World Cup tournament. He has been rested due to a toe injury. The middle-order cricketer will be replaced by Mayank Agarwal.
The possibility of him being ruled out of the WC was there since the other day. When he was seen around during Sunday's match, former cricketer Kartik Murali tweeted saying, "If Vijay Shankar has a toe niggle and that's the reason not to play why is he running drinks.. No one else there to do that job?"
Shankar has been trolled like crazy for his lackluster performance in the tournament. His only bright moment was when he dismissed a Pakistani batsman for the very first ball following Bhuvi's exit in the fifth over during the India Vs Pak match in June.
Meanwhile, India's loss at the hands of England on Sunday has disappointed fans and led to some quirky opinions. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Sunday tweeted out, "Call me superstitious but I'd say it's the jersey that ended India's winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019."
