Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Sarkar’ first look released in the web amid great response from fans all over the world. However, the poster also received flak from some politicians with repect to Vijay flashing a cigarette. Several cases have been filed pertaining to this in court.

Many leading personalities in the Tamil film industry came out in support for Vijay like T Rajendar. Now, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has come out voicing his support in the recently held ‘Junga’ audio launch function.

He said: “Films which are made nowadays don’t glorify smoking like the films which did in 1980s. I didn’t take up smoking seeing my father smoke. I also never smoked seeing actors smoke on the screen.

Even I have smoking habit. Is Vijay the only person who smkokes on screen? Doesn’t other actors also smoke? Some people create problems around it and gain publicity. Everyone knows that cigarette smoking is injurious to health. People who want to bring an end to this must target cigarette companies only.”
