Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi was last seen on screen playing a transgender Shilpa in the Thiagarajan Kumararaja directorial Multi-starrer Super Deluxe which also featured Samantha, Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan and Mysskin.

Even as his next movie Sindhubaadh directed by Su Arun Kumar of Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi fame and costarring Anjali is gearing up for a May 16 release, the actor is all set to begin shooting for his next.

Vijay Sethupathi will reunite with his Purampokku Engira Pothuvudamai director SP Jananathan for a movie named Laabam, which will have the actor playing a rebellious farmer fighting social issues. The movie will feature Shruti Haasan as a singer and dancer educating people through her art, and the movie begins rolling tomorrow in Ambasamudram. Jagapathi Babu plays the villain.
