Director Pa. Ranjith had organised a condolence meet for Anita who committed suicide as she was denied a medical seat under NEET based admission process. Many actors and directors from Kollywood took part in the event.

In his speech Vijay Sethupathi stressed the importance to impart knowledge about politics in the minds of youngsters and also raised a bold call to eradicate caste since people are divided by politicians based on caste.

"Education is a basic necessity. We have lost a life for that and I feel ashamed for that. Politicians are dividing us based on caste lines. We have to eradicate caste.

I think we also need to change the ways and modes of our protests. The politicians have become experts in thwarting our protests. So we have to think about new forms of protest. Just gathering at a particular place and shouting is not enough.

For that youngsters need to be taught about politics. They should know politics. Learning about politics is more important than cinema. Everyday in Whatsapp we get messages about spirituality and life lessons. I request the activists and intellectuals here to create many videos about politics, the day to day happenings and circulate them among youngsters. Caste has divided us. I wish it should be completely abolished from our society."
