Vijay Sethupathi always obliges to promote small films by releasing the first look posters and teasers and putting in a word of encouragement for the new comers as well.  However he has refused to release the teaser of a new movie 'Kadalai Poda Ponnu Venum' starring television fame Azhar.

The reason why VJS who had earlier agreed but refused to release the teaser is because the team had put up posters all over Chennai city in which only the words "____ Poda Ponnu Venum".  Many people had objected to this as the meaning is very obscene when the word "Kadalai" is left out.  Industry insiders have lauded the Makkal Selvan's social conscience in not encouraging this obscene means of promotions.

Director P. Anantharajan has released a video in which he has stated that Vijay Sethupathi released the first look poster of the film but has no connection with the new promotion.  He has also assured that only to create a curiosity the gimmicks was used and the film is a clean entertainer and does not contain any vulgar elements.  He has also apologized if he had hurt anyone's sentiments.
