The news that Vijay Sethupathi's 'Puriyaadha Pudhir' will not be releasing as scheduled for the Pongal festival weekend has come as a huge disappointment for the fans of Makkal Selvan.

The film was supposed to hit the screens day after tomorrow (January 13) and the advance bookings for tickets had started. few hours back the makers announced that the film's release has been postponed.

It was commonly assumed that the film had to back off due to non availability of theatres as Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Bairavaa' is hitting in a huge number of screens across Tamil Nadu and overseas locations tomorrow.

But Deepan Boopathy, the producer of 'Puriyaadha Pudhir' has revealed the real reason behind the last minute postponement.

"We are very disappointed and pained too over this sudden development at this juncture. As a first time producer I was eager to have a smooth release on this festival date. But due to certain unforeseen circumstances that were unrelated to this film but my other film 'Aako' which is under production has caused this situation. I thank all the cast, crew, exhibitors and JSK sir for the invaluable support that was accorded to my film. Our success can be delayed but never denied."

The young producer said the issues will be sorted out soon and 'Puriyaadha Pudhir' will hit the screens as soon as possible.

'Puriyaadha Pudhir' is a thriller flick starring Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathri, Ramesh Thilak and many others. The film has been directed by debutant Ranjith Jeyakodi.
