Vijay Sethupathi has produced the film 'Merku Thodarchi Malai' which was in the making for the past three years. The film has been directed by debutant Lenin Bharathi and Ilaiayraja has done the music score. The songs were released on Friday in a star studded event in Chennai.

Lenin Bharathi worked as an assistant director in director Suseenthiran's debut directorial 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'. Vijay Sethupathi was a junior artist those days and he played a small role in the film. During the making of 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu', Lenin apparently narrated his script to Vijay Sethupathi and the latter promised to produce the film once he earns the wealth to produce films.

The versatile actor kept up his promised and he has now produced the film which talks about the lives and travails of the farmers living in Western Ghats region spread in Theni-Kerala border.

The film's lead actor Antony also acted in a minor role in 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'.

'Merku Thodarchi Malai' has been screened in many International film festivals and it has received acclaims and awards . The film will be hitting the screens in Tamil Nadu soon.
