Vijay Sethupathi fondly known as Makkal Selvan is forging ahead in his career as a pan Indian actor unmindful of any on-screen image. His recent turn as the villain to Thalapathy Vijay in 'Master' has been lauded and apart from his Tamil lineup has bagged four Bollywood films and web series as well.
Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran started shooting his new movie based on the novel 'Thunaivan' by Jeyamohan with Soori as the hero and recently Vijay Sethupathi joined the cast replacing Bharathiraja who opted out due to undisclosed reasons.
Reports are coming in that VJS is playing the character of the father of Soori in the film and will be donning a grizzled old look. It's a known fact that VJS and Soori are close friends and are of equal age and its truly bold of the mass hero to take up the character. He has already appeared in old getups in 'Soodhu Kavvum' and 'Orange Mittai' and his acting in both have been impeccable.
Of course in the novel, the old man is not dad to the protagonist but a murderer who becomes a father figure to him. Either way, its going to be a virtual treat for Vijay Sethupathi fans to see him in a different avatar, and that too under the direction of Vetrimaaran. The film has Bhavani Sre as the female lead and Isaigniani Ilayaraja scoring the music.
