Its been twenty five years since A. G. Perarivalan has been in jail for allegedly abetting the Rajiv Gandhi murderers. His death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court in 2014.
Political activists and people from all other wakes of life have joined hands to conduct a motored procession from Vellore jail to the Chennai fort insisting on the release of Perarivalan and seven others. Vijay Sethupathi, Kalaiarasan ,Sathyaraj and directors Pa Ranjith,Ram and Naveen are participating and they have requested that their gesture should be seen in the light of humanitarian grounds and not as anything even remotely political. Commendable gesture indeed by these celebrities.
