It was announced before few months that Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi will be acting in a political satire movie named Tughlaq Darbar and that this movie will be directed by debutant Delhi Prasad who had earlier acted in movies like Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom.

This movie, which will be produced by 7 Screen Studio Lalit Kumar was announced to have Aditi Rao Hydari as the female lead and Manjima Mohan and Gayathrie in important characters, and Parthiban also joins Vijay Sethupathi in this movie after their superhit Naanum Rowdydhaan.

The shooting of Tughlaq Darbar pushed to adjust with Vijay Sethupathi's shooting dates for Vijay starrer Thalapathy 64 directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and now it has been made official that even before the shooting has started, the satellite rights of Tughlaq Darbar have been sold to Sun network.
