'Maharaja,' the 50th film of Vijay Sethupathi, was directed by Nithilan Swaminathan. Released in June last year, the movie received a warm reception and earned over ₹100 crore at the box office. The film was later dubbed in Chinese and released in November, where it captivated audiences in China.

‘Maharaja’ has become the highest-grossing Indian movie in China since 2018, collecting ₹91.55 crore in the region. It follows in the footsteps of other successful Indian films in China, such as Aamir Khan's '3 Idiots' and 'Dangal,' which are among the highest-grossing Indian films there.
