Vijay Sethupathi one of the busiest pan Indian stars participated as a guest at an event hosted by the Loyola College in Chennai at its premises. During his speech he emphasized the importance of listening skills and quoted the timeless Thirukkural "Selvathil Selvam Chevi Selvam..." that finishes as "Selvathul Ellam Thalai" meaning that the ears that we hear good things about is highest of riches one can have.
Some of the students latching on to the word "Thalai" apparently hearing that as "Thala" that used to formerly refer to famous Tamil superstar Ajith started shouting it. A visibly upset Vijay Sethupathi through a pause and a gesture showed the gathering his frustration on their foolishness of the obvious misconnection before continuing his speech.
The Makkal Selvan added “Everything you study won’t help you in real life. Maintaining good relationships with different kind of people will give you more knowledge. Don’t express your anger to others all of a sudden. Many people with whom I expressed my anger are my friends now. Just because you have grown physically does not mean you are developed mentally”.
A few of the snipeets from his speech are "Today’s business world is constantly trying to steal your time. Think about how to use your brain. Learn how to divert your brain from unwanted social media stuff. No one loses to anyone in this world. Nobody wins against anybody. Be suspicious of everyone. Ask the question. You will get the answer. I use alcohol but I strongly discourage anyone from indulging in alcohol".
Vijay Sethupathi has a number of exciting projects lined up next including Vetrimaaran's 'Viduthalai', the silent movie 'Gandhi Talks', 'Merry Christmas' with Katrina Kaif and 'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Atlee.
