Director Manikandan, who was a cinematographer, had directed three critically acclaimed and successful movies namely Kaaka Muttai, Aandavan Kattalai and Kutrame Thandanai, and after a break the director is back with his next movie Kadaisi Vivasayi which is based on a farmer's life.

The director has revealed in a recent interview that the movie is revolving around a village where the villagers who have left agriculture, are in need of paddy to offer to god for a special prayer as the village has not seen good things for a while. They decide to seek the help of the only remaining farmer, an 85 year old guy and the movie is all about what he decides.

The hero of the movie is a farmer named Nallaandi based out of Madurai's Perungamanalur village, and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu will be seen in supporting roles in the movie but not as heroes. The movie has music composed by Ilaiayaraja and was shot in 95 days, revealed the director.
