‘Vada Chennai’ directed by Vetrimaaran is the winner among the Ayudha Pooja releases which after taking a very good opening is staying strong at the box office. The film has the ensemble cast of Dhanush, Ameer, Kishore, Daniel Balaji, Aishwarya Rajesh and Andrea Jeremaiah. Initially Vijay Sethupathi had signed on to play the role of Rajan played by Ameer in the film but had to opt out due to clashing dates.
In a recent interaction Vijay Sethupathi has jokingly stated that he is glad not to have done the role in ‘Vada Chennai’ as memes would have popped up that he is releasing a film every weekend. The Makkal Selvan was obviously referring to his films ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ and ’96’ hittting the screens back to back in the previous weekends.
Vijay Sethupathi however praised Ameer for nailing the character to perfection and also expressed his happiness over ‘Vada Chennai’ being well received in theaters.
