Actor Vijay Sethupathi is a leading hero in Kollywood but unlike most of the celebrities in showbizz, he never hesitates to express his opinion on social issues.

The actor has opened up about the Demonetisation scheme implemented by the Union Government to curb black money and fake currencies. The scheme implemented with a sudden announcement of the Prime Minister last week, has been welcomed by a majority of Indians. But it is true that people have to wait for hours in queues in front of banks to exchange the old currency notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 denomination.

Speaking about this in a recent media interaction, Vijay Sethupathi said "Even in metro cities like Chennai people are standing in long queues, think about the people living in remote villages. Most of them are daily wage labourers and only if they go to work for the day, they can eat. Will they go to work or wait in queues in front of banks?".

The actor also revealed that he had to struggle to get new currency notes to spend for the treatment of his child's sudden illness.

However the 'Aandavan Kattalai' actor said if all these problems faced by the people result in a good change that benefits the nation as a whole, he will be happy.
