Vijay Sethupathi is one of the rarest of rare stars in Tamil cinema who in spite of having huge stardom and fan following gives more preference to challenging roles rather than settling for a run on the mill leading man characters. He is acting as the hero in the upcoming movies 'Tuglak Darbar', 'Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir' and 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal' while playing supporting roles in 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' and 'Ka Pe Ranasingam'. He is also the main villain in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Master' and the Telugu movie 'Uppenna'.
Vijay Sethupathi has reportedly acquired the Tamil remake rights of 'Uppenna' directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by director Sukumar. The film has him in a terrifying villain avatar opposite lead pair Panja Vaishnavv Tej and Krithi Shetty. It is still unknown whether the Makkal Selvan will be the baddie in the Tamil version also or he would just remain the producer. The film was slated to release on April 2nd but was forced to postpone due to the coronavirus pandemic.
