Today is the 38th Birthday of versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi.

Vijay Sethupathi entered film industry as a junior artist and appeared in films like 'Pudhupettai','Dishyum', 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'. 'Naan Mahan Alla' etc. Director Seenu Ramasamy cast him in the lead role for the first time in his National award winning 'Thenmerku Paruvakatru'. The film did not do well at the box office but after it won the National award people started noticing Vijay Sethupathi's skill as an actor.

Vijay Sethupathi is one actor who would never mind about his onscreen hero image. He proved this unusual trait in the early stage of his career by acting as the villain in Sasikumar's 'Sudnarapandian' when he was acting as hero in many films. The year 2012 placed Vijay Sethupathi as the top league hero and a fast rising star with back to back super hits 'Sundarapandian', 'Pizza' and 'Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom'. In 2013 he acted as a 40 year old in the cult film 'Soodhu Kavvum' and as a comic hero who would get beaten up by others in 'Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara'.

Even when he was suffering slew of commercial flops in the recent years he never tried to experiment and he played the role of 55 year lonely old man in his maiden production venture 'Orange Mittai'.

In 2015 he tasted the much needed success with 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' which proved his suitability for commercial entertainers. Film enthusiasts have started calling 2016 as Vijay Sethupathi's year in Kollywood as there are a slew of films waiting to release with him as the hero and the prominent ones among them are 'Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum' directed by Nalan Kumarasamy of 'Soodhu Kavvum' and 'Dharmadurai' directed by Seenu Ramasamy.

Apart from cementing his commercial star status we can be confident that Vijay Sethupathi will keep attempting different roles with off beat scripts as that is the quality that makes him stand out as a mainstream hero.
