Producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu will be the happiest man on earth. His big production venture 'Kabali' starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Rathika Apte in lead roles has got a humongous opening across the globe, collecting more than Rs.100 crores in just two days of release.
At the same time. his previous release of the year, 'Theri' starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay, has become the biggest blockbuster of the year. On the release day of 'Kabali' (July 22), 'Theri' directed by Atlee, completed the landmark 100 day run in theaters, which has now become a rare phenomenon in Tamil cinema.
'Theri' is still holding onto the screens and has been continuing its miraculous run at the box office. In Chennai, the film was screened for nine shows over the three day weekend between July 22 and July 24. Even after these many days of release and the onslaught of many releases including 'Kabali', 'Theri' has registered a 55% theater occupancy rate and it has collected Rs.28,160 in the weekend that has passed. With this, the total collection made by the film in Chennai, stands at a whopping Rs.11.9 crores.
