Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
The much expected Theri` audio launch function would be the most memorable Kollywood event not just because of its grandeur and the big names involved but also for the way it was conducted. Especially the team Their` has set out an example for punctuality and brevity for events related to the glitter world.
Most of the Kollywood public functions start hours after the schedule time, go on for hours and hours with guest speakers taking unwanted lectures. But the Theri` audio launch was devoid of anything that would test the patience of the audience. The event started sharply at 6 pm the scheduled time and ended at around 8:30 pm. The entire time taken was less than two and a half hours...!!!
The event started with the playing of a few songs from the album. Actress Meena was the first to get on to the dais with his daughter Nainika who makes her acting debut in this film playing Vijay`s daughter. It was a pleasant start listening to the words of the ever charming mother and the cute daughter.
Meena revealed that she had missed out the opportunity to act as Vijay`s heroine at least twice or thrice as she could not allocate dates and said she was happy that her daughter got to act with the star "Comic sense and dance" was her answer, when she was asked what she liked about Vijay,.
Cute Nainika was candid and flamboyant given that this was her first stage experience. When she was asked how much she liked Vijay, the cutie pie said "A Zillion".
Then came the most loved comic actor Motta` Rajendran. "I worked for 50-60 days with Vijay. He is very friendly with his co-stars. It is an honour to have worked with him "This is what he had to speak about his first film with the much loved Ilayathalapathy. He ended the speech with a famous Vijay punchline- Theri padam release kaga- I am Waiting".
Veteran actor Prabhu who is apparently the father of Vijay in Their` spoke more about how good is Vijay as a person. "I chose to act in Theri, to work with Vijay. Chandrashekar and Shoba have raised a virtuous son. Sangeetha has a humble person as her husband. Vijay is the pride of his family"
After Prabhu`s speech the Theri` Making video was screened not once but Twice owing to the thunderous "once more" calls from the fans of Vijay.
"There are two types of poetry - intellectual and emotional. Intellectual is one which gets you thinking. Emotional poetry hits your heart straight. En Jeevan is an emotional poetry thread" this is what National award winning lyricist Na. Muthukumar about the song he had written in the film.
Veteran actor and Nadigar Sangam President Nasser had come straight to the venue after attending the Nadigar Sangam Executive Committee Meeting. Hinting about the help Vijay has rendered to Nasser`s son who is recovering from a grievous road accident, the veteran said, "I have come here not as an actor, a well wisher, or the President of Nadigar Sangam. I have come here as a father. I wish you the best, Vijay. My son has is recovering, and I hope he will join us in the next function. He is looking forward to Theri"
Young lyricists Rockesh (Jithu Jilladi) and Arunaraja Kamaraj fairly new to stage spoke in a highly modest stone but the pride of having worked in a Vijay movie at this very early stage was evident in the joy writ over their face.
Rockes said "Director Atlee and music director G.V.Prakash struggled a lot to get this song from me. Atlee wanted a song that explains the greatness and the might of policemen. The song takes place in the second half of the film."
Arunraja said "I am lucky and also take pride that I have written and also sang for Vijay. I have worked in Theri' as a fan of Vijay sir."
Mahendran explained the miracle story of how he donned the greasepaint for Theri`. "My life has been full of unexpected turns. I never anticipated I will get to act in Ilayathalapathy's movie. God is great. Thanu called me for an obligation. He said that while I had shown the world to audience in my movies, he wants to show me to the world and audience I didn't even know whether I can act. But I was willing to do anything for Thanu. I just asked whether Vijay knows that I am being approached for the role. He said Vijay is also very happy with the choice. This is how I became an actor"
The mastermind of classics like Uthirpookkal` and Mullum Malarum` minced no words to praise Vijay and Atlee. "Atlee is a young genius I am surprised that Atlee handles sentiments so beautifully, and at such a young age. Vijay is one of the most natural and greatest actors and I am happy that I have worked with him. He is also a great human being. His fans are gifted and I am gifted to have worked with such a person"
Dance Master Sridhar has choreographed the Jithu Jiladi Song. When he spoke he said "Thanks to Atlee for a wonderful concept as Jithu Jilladi. This will be a sure favourite to all good. It will be a mass treat for Vijay sir`s fans and dance lovers."
Sharath who has choreographed Eena Meena Deeka`, En Jeevan` and Rangu` said "The greatest challenge for any dance choreographer is to choreograph for Vijay sir." - "I am a choreographer today only because of Vijay sir. Years ago when I had given a stage performance in front of him, he was the one who motivated me to take up this career."
Out of the two heroines Samantha could not make it to the occasions while the marvellous Brit beauty Amy Jackson entered the venue a little late.
"I was a big Vijay fan. After working with him, I am only ten times a bigger fan of his.It is not only because he is a great actor, but because of his calibre and personality, that I am big fan of Vijay. More than a wonderful director, Atlee is an amazing person. I believe this is why he is a favourite to all his stars. "This is what the I` girl had to say about her Theri' hero and the director.
The man of the day, the Hero of the Event, G.V.Prakash Kumar got on to the dais to speak about the audio of his landmark 50th film Theri`. "it has been 10 years. Thanks to (director) Vasanthabalan sir for my first chance. And thanks now to 'my darling' Atlee, Vijay sir and Thanu sir for my 50th. More than it is my 50th film it is a film of Thalapathy. My focus was to elevate his phenomenal dance, to cater to his mass and make the theatre erupt. The feel of the songs will be much greater in theatres."
The way producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu spoke in the event is nothing but an indication of his confidence about Theri` becoming a blockbuster. "Sachein ran 200+ days. I was convinced with Vijay's word of Thupakki being a superhit, after reading just a line of the script. Now, it is Theri's turn. Theri will be
