If the buzz is to be believed, then it is true that Ilayathalapathy Vijay is playing the role of a Muslim in his upcoming 'Jilla'. Although the team is tight lipped about the project, there are reasons to believe this feed, as director and the hero's father SA Chandrasekhar had declared during the controversies over 'Thupakki' that Vijay will be playing a Muslim in his next movie.

From earlier buzzes and eventual confirmation from the stars, we know that Mohanlal is playing the role of Vijay's godfather. Set against the backdrop of Madurai, the film has Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohanlal, Niveditha Thomas and Mahat to its star cast, and the team will be starting their third schedule of shooting today, in Chennai. Director Nesan is keen on finishing the project at a fast pace, as he plans for the film to be a Pongal 2014 release.
