The first phase of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's felicitation event for this year's high-scoring students of classes 10 and 12 is taking place in Chennai today. Beloved actor and TVK president, Thalapathy Vijay, addressed several important topics while speaking to the students at the ceremony. Here are some excerpts from his speech:
"I am delighted to meet you all again. On occasions like this, it's important to focus on positivity. Research the available choices for your next level of education and choose a field that is right for you.
Tamil Nadu has doctors, engineers, and lawyers, but lacks good political leaders. We need good leaders in all fields, not just politics. Well-educated individuals should aspire to become leaders. I encourage students to consider politics as a career option in the future.
Students should read the newspaper daily. Doing so will help you understand that news and truth are often different. Nowadays, social media can portray good things as bad and bad things as good. While it's fine to browse social media, always seek out the truth. This way, you can recognize the false propaganda of political parties.
I'm concerned about the rising drug issue in Tamil Nadu. The government needs to take stronger measures to control this problem. However, this isn't the right forum to discuss the government's failure on that issue. We should pledge to resist temporary pleasures and drugs to protect ourselves, relying on our own self-control.
Success and failure are natural parts of life. Success is not the end, and failure is not constant. I wish you all success in your studies and continuous progress."
