The Income Tax department has officially shed light on why exactly the raids were made at Thalapathy Vijay's properties and that of AGS Entertainment and Anbuchezhian. As per the official statement unveiled by the IT department, the sudden raid was initiated after Vijay's last hit 'Bigil' grossed over in excess of rupees 300 Crores at the box-office.
Clarifying the IT raid at Thalapathy Vijay's house, the statement reads, "his investment in immovable properties and remuneration received from the said producer for acting in the film is the subject matter of investigation in the present search".

Regarding AGS the note has clarified that the accounts given by the company regarding income and expenditures for 'Bigil' are being cross-checked.
