Actor Sasikumar had made his debut before a decade with the movie Subramaniapuram, which was also his debut direction venture. After the success of Subramaniapuram, he had directed the movie Eesan starring Samuthirakani and later concentrated on acting alone.

In recent years, there were reports that Sasikumar might return to direction and that he'll be directing Thalapathy Vijay. However, the project didn't materialize, and had been getting delayed. Now, Sasikumar has opened up on this exciting project.

In a recent social media live interaction, Sasikumar revealed that he doesn't have interest to wear grand, royal costumes in historical movies, but has a historical script ready and that he had told the same to actor Vijay. Sasikumar further revealed that Vijay liked the story and expressed his interest to act, but the shooting didn't happen due to various reasons, and the budget was high as well. Sasikumar concluded that he'll join hands with Vijay in the near future for the historical movie.
