Last week the Tamilnadu Directors Union inaugurated a theatre named after the legendary director K. Balachander. Illayathalapthy Vijay has contributed Rupees Fifteen Lakhs for the theatre and an undisclosed amount for a new auditorium.

The K. Balachander theatre situated in Valasarawakkam is a big boon for upcoming directors who can screen their short films there and also documentaries on artistes and other rare films are shown every week which benefits the public too.
