Vijay Deverakonda's hyper-optimistic take will haunt him

"Too little. I will do more in the theatres." These words are going to haunt Vijay Deverakonda for sure. The 'Arjun Reddy' actor is super-confident that 'Liger' will do more than Rs 200 Cr when it arrives in cinemas later this year.
The actor made the hyper-optimistic remarks while reacting to a false rumour that 'Liger' has received an astronomical offer from an OTT platform. As per the silly rumour, the producers of the Puri Jagannadh directorial were offered two billion rupees for a direct-to-streamer release (something unheard of for an Indian movie). The 'Geetha Govindam' star shrugged off the rumour in his own style.

When the film releases in theatres in Hindi, Telugu and a couple of other languages, its box-office numbers will be eagerly critiqued by VD's detractors and trolls. If the numbers don't turn out to be as rosy, he will be mocked. If 'Liger' lives up to VD's unrealistic expectations, there won't be any stopping him.
For now, producer Charmme Kaur feels that VD's remarks prove why he is the one and only Liger! Karan Johar, one of the other producers of the movie, will choose the best possible release date for the boxing-based emotional action drama in the near future.
