Vijay Deverakonda on Sunday announced that he will be helping out needy middle-class people from the Telugu States through The Deverakonda Foundation. The 'Geetha Govindam' actor set aside Rs 1.30 Cr for the same.
Those wishing to donate can do so through https://thedeverakondafoundation.org. 'RX 100' actor Karthikeya has donated Rs 1 lakh, inspired by his vision. Star director Koratala Siva has also promised to collaborate with the Rowdy actor.
A bigger announcement came from the 'Dear Comrade' actor when he said in an 11-minute special video that his goal is to make one lakh youths employable in his lifetime. "Last year, we selected 50 deserving candidates from different parts of the Telugu States. They have been given skill development training. Two of them have already got placed. This endeavour will go on. I didn't want to reveal it initially," the actor said. This is not something that is specific to the harsh Covid times we are living in.
In the video, Deverakonda said that he was not prepared financially when the pandemic broke out. "I have had to pay salaries to the staff at my production house (King of Hill)," he added, suggesting that it hasn't been easy for those in the film industry.
