Vijay Deverakonda hints at politics killing Dear Comrade

'Dear Comrade', released in 2019, turned out to be a disaster at the box-office. Directed by debutant Bharath Kamma, the film had Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. More than a year after its release, Vijay Deverakonda has hinted that some people played politics to affect its box-office results.

Speaking to film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the 'Arjun Reddy' actor said that there was propaganda against 'Dear Comrade' "You can pay money to get a film written off, you can get people to antagonize it on social media platforms," the actor said without elaborating much.

VD added that he was "completely unprepared" for the propaganda. He confessed to being put off by the politics surrounding the film.

In the interview, the 'Fighter' actor said that he, however, knew that 'World Famous Lover' would become a flop.
