The Madras High Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the allotment of land near Ambattur to Vijay, after the Tamil Nadu government informed the Court that it was an alternative allotment to the actor, whose property at Ashok Nagar was acquired for a development project.

Justice P Jyothimani dismissed a writ petition filed by R Karthikeyan, who said a portion of the property acquired from his family had been allotted to Vijay. In his petition, Karthikeyan said a total of 2.37 acres of land was acquired from his family for a road project from which 11,854 sq ft land was allotted to Vijay.

In his counter, Vijay said that he bought a plot in Ashok Nagar in an auction in 2002. However, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority denied planning permission saying that the land might be required for the inner circular corridor road.

The actor said he moved the court after the CMDA’s denial and obtained a favourable order, following which the land near Ambattur was granted to him. Convinced that there were no illegalities in the issue, Justice Jyothimani dismissed the petition.
