A. Venkatesh is an Indian film director and actor working in Tamil cinema.

He began his career as an assistant director, working on films like Nyaya Tharasu, Idhaya Thamarai, Vasanthakala Paravai, Suriyan, Gentleman, and Kadhalan. He made his directorial debut in 1996 with the film Mahaprabhu, starring R. Sarathkumar, Sukanya, and Vineetha.

Venkatesh has directed several hit films for actor Vijay, including the action film Selva (1996) and the romance film Nilaave Vaa (1998). In 1999, he directed the drama film Pooparika Varugirom starring Sivaji Ganesan, Vikram Krishna, and Malavika.
