Vidya Balan has proved her caliber yet again with ‘Paa’. With her launch vehicle ‘Parineeta’, the actress went on to show that she is someone to watch out for. And now she seems to have bagged role that would change her portfolio.

Vidya would be doing a film, titled 'No One Killed Jessica' that would be based on the infamous murder of Jessica Lal. The tabloids went frenzy over the news when Jessica was gunned down in a bar amidst several people in April 1999. The victim’s sister Sabrina had ran pole to pole fighting legally to nab the murderer. Vidya would be playing the role of Sabrina.

'No One Killed Jessica' will be directed by Rajkumar Gupta, who was earlier lauded for his thriller film ‘Aamir’. The director said that he will start rolling the film in Feb 2010. Talking about his choice of leading lady, the director said, “Vidya Balan seemed like the right choice from the start. Now that I have got her for the role, the rest of the casting will be easy.”

On the other hand Vidya is said to be excited with her role. Said the actress, “The minute I heard the role, I wanted to do it. It’s my first biographical role and a big challenge. I’ll be meeting Sabrina shortly. After Paa and Ishqiya, I need to move forward.”

Incidentally Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Halla Bol’ too had the shades of Jessica’s case and it also had Vidya Balan.
