At a time when Vidya Balan was critically bashed by fashion watchers for her poor dressing sense, these days the super actress of Bollywood has found her own style; making everyone to sit up and reconsider her. So much that of late Ms.Balan has even impressed international fashion gurus with her personality and they have gone ahead to design exclusively for her.
As a part of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2014 the festival ambassador, Vidya Balan did a stunning photo shoot with Australias celebrated designers - Akira Isogawa and Susan Dimasi.
Akira Isogawa is one of Australias most prominent contemporary designers. He has dressed most of Australias notable figures including the famous gown that Cate Blancett wore when she won the oscar for Elizabeth. Akira created a special dress for Vidya true to Vidyas style - a fusion of his Japanese roots and Australian chic.
Susan Dimasi presented Vidya in a stunning sari. The fabric was specially designed by Susan, by hand weaving a textile with silk ribbon through a rubber net drawing inspiration from the 18th century brocades out of the Victorian art gallerys collection. The hand woven textile was exhibited at the prestigious Melbourne Now arts exhibition at the iconic National Gallery of Victoria. And then draped on Vidya as a sari..
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne runs from May 1st to May 11th, screening over 45 films with over 30 Australian premieres. The festival will be opened by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on May 1st .
