While several are happy over Anurag Basus Barfi entering the Oscars nomination list, heres is one person who is very unhappy that his film was not even considered by the producers to send it to the prestigious award ceremony..
Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who is glad over Barfis achievement, is on the other hand quite sad and annoyed that his well-acclaimed Vicky Donor couldnt make it to the nomination, owing to its producers Eros Internationals negligence.
In a statement, the director expressed his displeasure over Eros citing that they didnt consider to send his movie to Oscars.
Stated Sircar, "I'm really happy for Ranbir, Anurag Basu and the whole team of Barfi on the film's selection as India's entry to the Oscars. Congratulations!
However, as far as my film "Vicky Donor "is concerned, I'm very disheartened, disappointed and angry that one of this year's most original high concept story was not even considered by the producers of the film to be sent for Jury's consideration...
It is said that the director was unawar that his film was not sent by Eros and later after releasing it, he was completely surprised. "I was in complete shock when the Jury told us that they have not received the film from Eros for consideration....
This purely shows their disregard for a film that brought them commercial success as well as critical acclaim," wrote Sircar.
Then as a piece of advice, the director warned all filmmakers saying further, "I would also like all the directors to beware of producers and watch out for their films at every stage.
For somebody like me and the kind of films I make, what makes me happiest is the critical acclaim much more than the commercial gains. I sincerely hope that Eros in future does not repeat this mistake with any other film".
