Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu has strongly condemned Pakistan's inhuman treatment of family members of former Indian Naval Officer Kulbhushan Jadhav when they visited him in a Pakistan prison a few days back.
Arrested on charges of espionage, Jadhav was arrested and a Pakistan Military Court awarded death penalty to him. India filed an appeal with the International Court of Justice at The Hague against the verdict after which the ICJ stayed the verdict for the time being.
Kulbhushan's mother and wife were in Pakistan a few days back to meet him. It turns out that they were treated very shabbily and humiliated by Pakistani authorities who dragged and told Jadhav's mother to change into Salwar Khameez from sareee, asked her to take off her Mangal Sutra, bangles, ear-ring, etc. besides draping duppatta around her head as is done by Muslim women in Pakistan.
The same kind of humiliation was meted out to Jadhav's wife too. Commenting on this sort of treatment, the vice-president Venkaiah Naidu termed Pakistan's act as 'inhuman' and added that he strongly condemned Pakistan's attitude.
