Vishwa Hindu Parishad has on Sunday held a Dharma Sabha in the temple town of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to demand the disputed Ram Janambhoomi for Ram Mandir.
Speaking on the occasion, the outfit's international general secretary Champat Rai is quoted to have said this: “We want the entire land for temple construction...no formula dividing the land is acceptable.”
VHP urged Muslims to hand over the disputed land for the construction of a magnificent Ram temple without the Centre having to go in for an Ordinance. The outfit also said that, in case this doesn't happen, VHP will include Kashi, Mathura and other temples as well in its list of demands. No deadline was set in making the demand.
Heavy security was deployed to maintain law and order in Ayodhya ahead of the Dharma Sabha, which saw the attendance of about 2 lakh people.
"Heavy deployment of CAPF, PAC, ATS has been done. Drone cameras being used to assess the crowd. 13 parking spots have been designated, 2000 buses from various places have come to Ayodhya. We received an alert by IB (Intelligence Bureau) a few days back, it was a non-specific alert. Action is being taken. People from intelligence agencies under state govt and centre have been deployed there and are monitoring the situation," ADG said.
