Story

Kanyakumari SP Ajith (Rajinikanth), a renowned encounter specialist with a 100% success rate, embodies the philosophy of swift justice, leaving no room for error. His methods, however, clash with DGP Satyadev (Amitabh Bachchan), the head of the Human Rights Commission, who staunchly believes in due process and the principle of "Justice Delayed is Justice Delivered." Satyadev views encounters as "Justice Hurried and Justice Buried."

Under pressure from Chennai DGP Srinivas (Rao Ramesh), SP Ajith is tasked with solving the brutal rape and murder of government teacher Saranya (Dushara Vijayan). With a 48-hour deadline looming, Ajith assembles a team consisting of SP Harish Kumar (Kishore), ASP Roopa Kiran (Dushara Vijayan), and Patrick (Fahadh Faasil). As they delve deeper into the investigation, a series of shocking and sensational developments unfold, revealing intricate connections to Nazeema (Rohini), Thara (Manju Warrier), and NAT academy chairman Natraj (Rana). Director T.J. Gnanavel, known for his powerful message-driven films like 'Jai Bheem', aimed to deliver a impactful social commentary with 'Vettaiyan - The Hunter', leveraging the star power of Superstar Rajinikanth. While the film successfully showcases Rajinikanth's charisma and elevates his scenes, the role itself offers little new ground for the actor, relying heavily on his trademark style and mannerisms.
