Kamal Haasan's super hit 2006 film 'Vetaiyadu Vilayadu' directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon is a cult classic among cop movies in Tamil. Fans have been demanding a sequel for many years, eager to watch Kamal as Raghavan IPS under GVM's sophisticated screenplay and direction.

During the audio launch function Kamal revealed that he had asked GVM for the screenplay of the sequel and is waiting for it even now. The classic director on the stage itself replied that popular novelist Jeyamohan is writing the screenplay and it will soon be ready. This was a clear statement that the project is very much on and will go on floors sooner rather than later.

Now in an exclusive interview, Jeyamohan has stated that Kamal will be playing a retired cop in 'Vetaiyadu Vilayadu 2' and that he will be called on to crack a tough case by the police department. Jyothika played the female lead as Kamal's wife in the original film but it remains to be seen if she returns in the sequel or not.

Jeyamohan has also the writer of this week's release 'Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu' starring Simbu and directed by GVM and Mani Ratnam's epic multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan' which hits the screen on September 30th. The much awaited Vetrimaaran film 'Viduthalai' starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi is based on Jeyamohan's short story 'Thunaivan'.
