We broke the news first to you that Thalapathy Vijay held talks with sensational director Vetrimaaran and an exciting project is under development. The director himself later acknowledged it and also revealed that the story is based on the novel "Shoes of the Dead" written by Kota Neelima that deals with a simple farmer exposing a wily politician who is in power.

It was expected that the combo would come together for 'Thalapathy 67' but Vetrimaaran in his most recent interview has stated that it would happen only after he completes his existing projects. The award winning filmmaker is on the verge of completing 'Viduthalai' with Vijay Sethupathi and Soori and has a web series forr Zee 5, 'Vada Chennai' prequel with Ken Karunaas and is scripting Raghava Lawrence's 'Adhigaaram'. He is also working on a screenplay for Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan which should take off in late 2022 or early 2023. There is also Suriya's 'Vaadivasal' which is expected to go on floors in the second half of next year.

Though there will obviously be a dealy in starting the project, Vetrimaaran has gushed that he is happy that he is going to work with Vijay whom he considers the biggest superstar of this generation.
