Vetrimaaran is one of the most influential filmmakers of the current generation in Tamil cinema. While his late father was a famous scientist his mother Megala Chitravel is a novelist by her own right. She has now received her doctorate at the hands of the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while her son applauded her from the audience stands.
Many of Megala Chitravel's novels such as 'Kamali Anni', 'Rathidevi Vandal', 'Vasandame Varuka' 'Maha Megha Maigal' and 'Ganga' have received great response from readers in the Tamil speaking world. The former teacher was conferred the doctorate for her extensive research on the songs of the late Tamil Superstar and Chief Minister MGR. It is worth mentioning that the philosphical and propaganda songs of the matinee idol not only helped his film career soar but also his subsequent entry into politics and reign as one of the longest serving chief ministers in the country.
Vetrimaaran on the other hand is focussed on shooting a few portions of his 'Viduthalai 2' starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori to speed up its release in early 2024. He will begin shooting for the much hyped 'Vaadivaasal' starring Suriya and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu in the first quarter of next year.
